BUILDING UP YOUR FAITH

Faith building is a simple, spiritually rewarding exercise, not a series of painful disciplines based on large lists of do's and don'ts. Many spirit filled people make the mistake of trying to live their lives by blind obedience to rules and regulations, never perceiving the joy of turning opportunities into blessings. Others have abandoned the powers of the Holy Spirit, preferring to live a 'spiritual' life outside the beneficial power of the Holy Spirit. They never find the true and lasting peace which God has promised them ...that is why many are eagerly awaiting the next 'Spiritual fad' and jump at every opportunity to hear the next 'exciting revelation'.

To serve God because you have to, or to put up with the 'necessary evils' of fellowship, prayer, tithing, witnessing, behaving, etc., to please your parents or to secure eternal life as an adult, is a waste of time and will never bring any peace into your life. Faith building is the key to all happiness and lasting success. Faith building is the pathway to all blessing and joy in your life ...nothing will ever beat it, nothing is easier.

Faith is the most powerful tool you can use.

GAL 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified (to be made right[eous]) by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified (never be made right). Neither, self discipline (even if it is flawless), nor blind obedience to God's ways, will ever bring happiness or success in the Lord ...the Old Testament record proves this beyond doubt. Faith is the key to overcoming and faith is the key to finding lasting peace ...blind faith is worth nothing.

Faith and expectation need to go hand in hand.

HEB 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Faith with expectation is essential ...faith is applied because an outcome is expected, not because we are 'expected' to be faithful.

Paul explains the difference between doing what you have to and doing what you want to ...a bit of faith goes a long way.

1COR 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! We all have common ground rules which relate to our life ...we are the messengers of Jesus Christ.

17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward (the attitude makes the difference): but if against my will, a dispensation [of the gospel] is committed unto me. I am only doing what I have to do, it is the duty of my stewardship ...this is a poor attitude.

18 What is my reward then? [Verily] that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. Paul wasn't preaching the gospel for material reward ...his attitude was built on faith and trust.

19 For though I be free from all [men], yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. His positive attitude and faith towards God gave him the faith to achieve the impossible. He took the advantage of building his faith, which in turn built the church as others were blessed by the results.

Faith produces results ...that is how faith is built upon ...no results would mean that there would be no faith.

ACT 14:8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:

9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. This is a typical faith building exercise, even though it might appear to be more dramatic than most. Paul was looking for opportunities to exercise his faith. This is what you and I need to do. We can build our faith by doing nothing more than looking for the opportunities to apply what we know about God, and speaking when a positive response is forthcoming ...this is using faith. We all meet and see people every day in our lives, therefore we only need to look ...to be spiritually alert and the rest is God's blessing.

Many people are troubled by a guilty conscience and feel restricted or incapable of exercising faith.

HEB 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? God can clean up the guilt ...it is your choice. Don't make the mistake of using guilt as an excuse to avoid the potentials that are ahead of you. You can be free if you choose ...but that is also a step in faith.

MAT 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Unbelief kills faith and destroys lives.

An encouragement to build faith and keep building it for the rest of your life.

2PET 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: This is the faith that you have been given.

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, Knowledge is helpful.

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: The more we know about God, the more we will be able to get from him.

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. God can fix the sin if you can attend to faith.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue (moral soundness); and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance (self control); and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity (learn to love one another through faith in God).

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. You will build up your faith each day and will get stronger and stronger. Set backs have no lasting power!
